ICS Medical Devices works with international medical device companies in the design, development and commercialisation of catheters, access sheaths, balloon catheters, valve delivery systems and stent delivery systems. Role and Responsibilities
The primary focus of this role is to lead the engineering activities in early-stage production processes. Reporting to the Head of Operations the Engineering Manager is directly responsible for a team of technical personnel providing a professional level of technical support, innovation, direction and leadership.
- Work closely with Design and NPI to bring new products into a production environment.
- Drive a systematic approach to design for manufacture and production readiness to ensure products can be ramped to volume production.
- Develop Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the engineering team to support and advance production processes.
- Drive the personal development of the engineering team in a structured and transparent manner.
- Responsible for Health & Safety within assigned areas to include accident investigation and corrective action.
- Drive a data driven culture, using structured problem-solving approach and team engagement to achieve results.
- Drive improvement in equipment and process performance in a sustainable and methodical manner.
- Evaluate new/improved technologies and prepare ROI proposals to senior management for investment planning.
- Responsible for managing the Operations Engineering Team and developing them to meet the challenging requirements of the Medical Device Industry.
- Effectively manage the execution of engineering to deliver yield, NPI, cycle time and efficiency goals.
- Identify and project manage a diverse array of Engineering related projects. Ensure safety and product quality are never compromised and good ergonomic principles are applied.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Key Requirements
- B. Eng. (or equivalent experience) and at least 5 years relevant experience.
- Must have proven track record in managing and developing a professional / technical team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to implement Process Capability and Lean Principles in every aspect of Engineering.
- Working knowledge of six sigma would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong knowledge of ISO and FDA requirements.
- A good background in volume manufacture and tool room services, in addition to a strong knowledge of operational business processes.
